Registration is Open for the Blue Hill Observatory Climate & Weather Conference

Formerly the Southern New England Weather Conference, this year’s event steps into a new chapter — same community, national reach. Registration and abstract submissions are open now.

For more than 25 years, this conference has brought together weather enthusiasts, professionals, students, and teachers to share knowledge on regional weather and climate. As Blue Hill Observatory takes on a leading role in organizing and hosting it, the conference is renamed and stepping into a broader vision — grounded in more than 140 years of continuous observation, and now serving as a national forum for meteorology, climate science, resilience, and communication.

This year’s conference is hybrid, with both in-person and virtual attendance options, and takes place October 24, 2026 in the Greater Boston area.

A New Name, a Continuing Legacy

Longtime attendees will notice a new name this year. As Blue Hill Observatory steps into a leading role in organizing and hosting the conference, we do so with deep appreciation for the many years of stewardship, partnership, and logistical support that built this community — a legacy that won’t be forgotten.

The updated name reflects both continuity and a broader vision. The conference remains rooted in the strong regional community that has defined it for decades, while now serving as a national forum bringing together leaders in meteorology, climate science, resilience, and communication from across the country. Anchoring the event at Blue Hill Observatory connects it to one of the nation’s most significant weather and climate records — grounding the conversation about tomorrow’s challenges in more than 140 years of daily observation.
