EARLY MORNING CLOUDS AND FOG BREAK TO PLENTY OF SUNSHINE BY EARLY
AFTERNOON….
The day started with a lot of clouds around as well as some fog
for a time. Even a bit of light rain pushed in off the ocean
between 6-7am this morning bringing only a trace to the Hill.
Clouds lingered through mid morning before finally starting to
break as drier air pushed in from the northeast. By early this
afternoon an abundance of sunshine was the theme with a cool
onshore breeze keeping temperatures on the chilly side,
especially for early June.
Temperatures started the day on the chilly side with a low this
morning in the mid 40s! They have been slow to recover today
thank in part to the clouds this morning, the wind off the ocean,
and the lingering chilly air mass in place as the upper trough
that plagued the region all weekend is still influencing our
weather. Readings have reached the upper 50s to near 60F early
this afternoon, which is more than 10F degrees below normal.
Winds were on the lighter side during the wee hours of the
morning, then picked up between 6-7am and have been fairly
steady since. An east-northeast flow has been averaging at
around 10mph for the day so far. The peak gust so far for the
day is 26mph, which occurred just after 8am this morning.
Visibility has been limited today due to fog this morning, and
general haziness from pollen this afternoon. The view was around
30-35 miles throughout the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 60F degrees, which is
11 degrees below the normal high of 71F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 45F degrees, which is 8 degrees below the
normal low of 53F.
