EARLY MORNING FOG BURNS OFF TO HOT AND HAZY SUNSHINE….

Early morning fog was quite dense for a time this morning,
lowering visibility to around 1/16th of a mile for a while. By
9am, the low clouds and fog had burned off leaving with very
hazy sunshine and rapidly warming temperatures.

Temperatures have risen into the upper 80s early this afternoon.
The dew point has also been on the rise, from the upper 60s
this morning to the low 70s by early this afternoon. Heat Index
values have pushed into the lower 90s thanks to the increasingly
oppressive humidity levels.

The wind has been light, and at times quite variable as we’ve
been sort of sitting near the sea-breeze line. It has shown a
tendency to increase a bit this afternoon from an onshore
direction as the sea-breeze attempts to strengthen a bit. This
however has not had much impact on the temperature to this
point. The average speed for the day so far is around 6mph, with
a peak gust of 15mph occurring around 1:30pm this afternoon.

Visibility has been limited today, first by the dense fog early
this morning, and then by haziness, some of which is still a
result of the lingering wildfire smoke from Canada. The view
improved from 1/16th of a mile early this morning to around
25 miles by early this afternoon.

The maximum temperature so far today is 88F degrees, which is
6 degrees above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 68F degrees, which is 4 degrees above the
normal low of 64F.
