HEAT-WAVE BREAKS WITH MUCH COOLER CONDITIONS TODAY ALONG WITH
SCATTERED SHOWERS….
The heat-wave broke overnight with the arrival of a backdoor cold
front sliding down from the northeast. The wind shifted to an
easterly direction with falling temperatures and lowering dew point
values. Some scattered rain showers have been moving across the
area as well through the morning into early this afternoon, however
they have been mainly on the light side with only 0.03″ of rain
fall so far through 1pm.
The temperature was still in the upper 70s at midnight, which is
when the high temperature for the day occurred. Since then, there
has been a gradual decline with the low so far of 60F which occurred
between 8-9am this morning. Temperatures have been stuck in the
60s throughout the day light hours, which is some 30+ degrees cooler
than the past couple of days.
The dew point dropped into the mid 50s following the backdoor front
and has been holding at this value through the day today.
The onshore wind has been averaging around 11mph so far. It was
pretty gusty during the early to mid morning hours with gusts
approaching 30mph. However, the wind has decreased some since. The
peak gust so far for the day is 30mph, which occurred just after
5:30am this morning.
The visibility has been fairly decent today outside of rain showers.
The prevailing view has been around 50-60 miles today!
The maximum temperature for today is 77F degrees, which is 2 degrees
below the normal high of 79F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 60F degrees, which is 1 degree below the normal low of 61F.
