BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2024
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0642E
SUNSET: 1618E
PLENTY OF SUNSHINE THROUGH THE MORNING, CLOUDS STARTING TO MOVE IN
EARLY THIS AFTERNOON….
Mainly sunny skies are the theme today with a few clouds floating
by as an onshore flow begins to back some of the stratocumulus from
over the ocean into the area. The cloudiest conditions across coastal
areas from about the Cohasset/Scituate area then southwestward into
southeastern Massachusetts. Here at Blue Hill, only a few clouds are
dotting the sky so far.
Temperatures are running about the same as yesterday, although we had
a bit of a cooler start early this morning. Readings have reached the
low to mid 50s early this afternoon. This is still a good 5-7 degrees
above the expected high for today. The dew point has been gradually
rising from the low 30s early this morning into the low 40s by early
this afternoon. This is due to the onshore flow off the ocean.
Winds started the day out of the northwest and north-northwest, then
shifted to the east-northeast by the mid morning hours. Other than
some brief periods where the wind goes light, speeds have been
generally steady today averaging at around 9mph for the day so far.
The peak gust for the day so far is 20mph, which occurred at 10:51am
this morning.
Visibility has been decent today, starting at 60 miles early this
morning, then going to around 70 miles during the mid morning hours,
then back down to around 60 miles early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is 52 degrees, which is 3 degrees
above the normal high of 49F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 36F degrees, which is 4 degrees above the normal low of 32F.
