CLOUDY, YET WARM AND HUMID ON THE FIRST DAY OF SEPTEMBER….
Today we observed mostly cloudy skies with limited visibility and an
increasingly significant southwesterly wind. Frequent gusts above
20 mph have been observed this afternoon with an average speed around
15 mph.
A couple showers came through earlier this morning, leaving only a trace
in the gauge at the 7 A.M. observation. Weather conditions were warm and
humid, with temperatures jumping into the low 80’s and dew points reaching
the low 70’s. The lack of sunshine makes hiking conditions a little more
bearable, yet still slightly uncomfortable.
Visibility was limited today, being 20 miles on average due to fog and
haze.
The maximum temperature so far today is 81F, which is 3 degrees
above the normal high of 78F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 67F, which is 7 degrees above the normal low of 60F.
