WARM AND HUMID UNDER A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS…

A few showers early this morning left 0.14″ in the rain
gauge, not nearly enough to help with the worsening
drought conditions. Speaking of which the new drought
monitor came out this morning showing severe drought is
now impacting northern and northeastern Massachusetts with
moderate drought elsewhere except for SE MA and western
Berkshire county where abnormally dry conditions prevail.

So the dry beat goes on with the monthly rainfall deficit
now at 0.94 inches and the annual deficit at 7.78 inches.

A mix of sun and clouds have been the theme most of the
day with an increase in convective clouds this afternoon.
A thunderstorm formed to the ESE of Blue Hill near the
Marshfield area earlier this afternoon bringing a good
downpour to that area. So far no storms have formed near
the hill, but we’re keeping an eye to the sky.

Temperatures have reached the low to mid 80s with the dew-
point holding in the mid 60s. So it feels a bit uncomfortable
out there today.

Adding to the discomfort is the lack of wind today. The
average speed for the day has only been around 8mph.

The high so far today is 83F, which is 1 degree above the
normal maximum of 82F. The low since midnight is 64F, which
is equal to the normal minimum of 64F.
