VERY WARM AND A BIT HUMID TODAY UNDER MAINLY SUNNY SKIES….

Showers and thunderstorms that impacted western and central
portions of the state fell apart as they progressed into
eastern areas last evening. As such, only a trace of rain was
recorded here on the hill with a few of the left over showers
moving through. So the dry beat goes on with likely worsening
drought conditions. The monthly rainfall deficit is now at
0.96 inches and the annual deficit at 7.80 inches.

Sunshine has been the main theme today with only a few clouds
around at various times through the day. Temperatures have
warmed into the upper 80s to near 90 making for a very warm
day outdoors. In addition humidity levels are a bit elevated
with the dew point in the low to mid 60s this morning, but
finally dipping to the upper 50s this afternoon.

The wind has been on the light side today, as such it’s not
offering much in the way of relief from the very warm air.
The average speed for the day thus far has only been around
9mph. Peak gust thus far is 22mph occurring late this morning.

Visibility has been decent today rising from 45 miles early
this morning to around 60 miles late this morning and afternoon.

The high so far today is 89F, which is 7 degrees above the
normal maximum of 82F. The low since midnight is 67F, which
is 3 degrees above the normal minimum of 64F.
