SNOW FINALLY COMES TO AN END THIS MORNING, SUNSHINE RETURNS….

The snow that began just after 4am yesterday morning, finally came
to an end this morning just after 9am. A storm total of 8.4″ of
snow was measured here on the summit. This melted to 0.54″ of liquid
giving us an average ratio of 16:1. However, the snow that fell
overnight was considerably “fluffier” with a ratio that reached
as high as 21:1!

Clouds finally broke late this morning, giving us plenty of sunshine
this afternoon. However strong cold air advection is holding the
temperature back with readings only getting to around 20F!

In addition, the wind has really picked up early this afternoon
with gusts frequently eclipsing 30mph. A peak gust of 43mph has been
measured so far, happening after the 1pm observation!

The combination of the cold temperatures and moderately strong winds
are creating wind chills mainly in the single digits. Brrr!

The high so far today is 22F, this is 15 degrees below the normal
high of 37F. The low since midnight is 15F, which is 4 degrees below
the normal minimum of 19F.
