RECORD WARMTH YESTERDAY, COLD AND SNOWY TODAY….
Yesterday was a nice taste of spring for the area with many places
reaching the upper 50s and low 60s. Many stations set new record
highs, including here at Blue Hill. We recorded a high of 59.1F
yesterday afternoon, beating the old record of 56F degrees set back
in 1999.
As we turn the page on to today, a stark contrast is definitely
noted. Light snow began just after 4am this morning and has
continued since. A couple of moderate bands did move through this
morning, but overall the snowfall has been light. Total snowfall
through 1pm is 2.7 inches. This has melted down to 0.19″ of liquid,
for a ratio of 14:1!
The wind has been rather light today with an average speed for the
day of around 7mph. On the bright side, this makes for easy measuring
of the snow as there has been no blowing or drifting.
The high so far today is 35F, this is 2 degrees below the normal
high of 37F. The low since midnight is 26F, which is 7 degrees above
the normal minimum of 19F.
