DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2013
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

0.22 INCH OF VERY BENEFICIAL RAINFALL TODAY;
DENSE FOG BEGAN SHROUDING SUMMIT LATE THIS MORNING;
TEMPERATURES FAIRLY STEADY IN 40S WITH S-SW WIND

Light rain began falling early this morning and remained steady through
early this afternoon. A total of 0.22 inch of much needed rain fell today.

The summit has been shrouded in dense fog since late this morning, reducing
visibility to 1/16th of a mile. Early in the day, visibility was upwards
of 25 miles in light rain.

The overnight low temperature was relatively mild at 39F, or 7 degrees
above the 30-year average for the date. The temperature has not warmed
much this afternoon, reaching only the mid 40s, which is a couple of
degrees below the 30-year average for the date. The wind direction became
SW yesterday, allowing for temperatures to moderate nicely. A S-SW wind
continues today which has helped keep temperatures somewhat on the mild side,
although extensive cloud cover is greatly limiting the effect.

In anticipation of the expected cold over the next few days, below are a
few current cold temperature records that could be challenged:

Nov 24
Record low maximum: 26F in 1936
Record low minimum: 7F in 1897

Nov 25
