RECORD-BREAKING RAIN DIMINISHES TO DRIZZLE, FOG
AND SHOWERS TODAY

Heavy rain fell for several hours yesterday as a strengthening
Nor’easter came ashore. High winds were observed by mid-day
yesterday with a peak gust of 48 MPH from the ENE at 2:28 PM EST.
As of 10:00 AM EST this morning 3.35 inches of rain had been
collected for this storm, with drizzle and showers continuing
to add to this total. By 1:00 PM EST another 0.16 inches of rain
had fallen, making a new storm total thus far of 3.51 inches
from this latest Nor’Easter.

A calendar day total of 3.23 inches of rain easily beats the
old record for December 9, 1.52 inches, set back in 1956.
This new record also moves into third place on the list of
wettest December calendar days here at Blue Hill:
