WARM, DRY WEATHER TODAY AFTER RECORD RAINS EARLY YESTERDAY

Heat has been building into the region today, with temperatures climbing
into the mid-80s this afternoon after a fairly cool morning low of 61F.
Bright sunshine has accompanied the warmth, with a few cumulus clouds only
enough to dot the Sun from time to time. Winds have been light today, from the
northwest most of the day but with an occasional on-shore component.

Contrary to yesterday, it has been a dry day at the summit today.  During the
overnight hours early yesterday morning, heavy rain and thunderstorms brought a
new daily record rainfall for 7/10, with a storm total of 2.03 inches.  A
little of this rain fell late on 7/9, so the exact record will be determined
in the coming days.  Numerous rainfall events in the past several weeks have
nearly erased our yearly precipitation deficit, now just over an inch.
