PERSISTING NW WINDS USHER IN RECORD SETTING LOWS….
Northwest winds over the past few days have dropped temperatures to
extreme levels, with yesterday’s minimum of 9F the coldest on record
for the day. This also proved to be the coldest Thanksgiving on record.
The min of 9F on Thanksgiving morning also goes down as the second
earliest single digit temperature ever recorded at BHO. Additionally,
yesterday’s maximum temperature of 20F is the coldest maximum temperature
observed this early in the season. This morning’s low of 9F is tied for
today’s record low, matching the low of 9F in 1888. Today, winds
shifting southwesterly combined with subsiding intensity have enabled
greater heating throughout the day, with a high temperature of
28F reached by the time of the 1 P.M. observation. This is still well
below seasonal averages, but it does bring temperatures away from the
record setting values. Cold dry air continues to enable pristine
visibility, with 90 miles observed this morning, and high pressure
continuing to enforce clear skies throughout the observation period.
