DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY

CLEAR DAY SEES SEASONAL TEMPERATURES RETURN TO THE REGION…
After a warm start to the month of January the past day has
witnessed the advent of cold northwesterly air in the region,
dropping temperatures back to seasonal readings. Even so, after the
the first ten days of the month, we currently sit at a +66 degree
cumulative departure from monthly averages (+6.4 degrees/day).
Today’s weather should help this departure drift back towards
seasonal norms, with temperatures on track to stay below the
climatological expectation. At the time of the 1 P.M. observation,
a high temperature of 26 F had been reached, well below the
expected max of 34 F. Rising pressure has seen clouds clear
from the Blue Hills, with relatively little cloud activity appearing
directly overhead instead appearing mostly in the distance.
Winds have decreased in magnitude since yesterday, but continue
to sustain at significant speeds, continuing to drive in cold air from
the west-Northwest.
BHO Greatest Annual Precipitation, inches (1886-2018):
