BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 2020
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

A STRONG WESTERLY WIND KEEPS TEMPERATURES
LOW AS THE SKY BECOMES OVERCAST IN THE
AFTERNOON HOURS…

The day started off with partly cloudy skies and chilly
temperatures in the low 30s. However clouds quickly
increased by mid to late morning with some snow flurries
between the 10 A.M. and 1 P.M. observations. We observed
only a trace of snow during that time. Visibility has
remained good, being 70 miles on average.

A west wind has been increasing steadily into early this
afternoon with frequent gusts over 40 mph and a peak gust
thus far of 47 mph at 11:50 P.M.

Despite intermittent sunshine, temperatures are lower
than seasonal averages. This is due to significant
cold air advection from the west. Our high temperature
so far today is 41F, which is 17 degrees below our daily
normal high temperature of 58F. The low since midnight
is 30F, which is 10 degrees below the daily normal low
of 40F.
