STAYING COOL AND DRY A LITTLE MORE THAN HALFWAY THROUGH
AUGUST….

Today was mostly cloudy with an average visibility of 75 miles.
Conditions are cool and relatively dry with dew points dropping
into the low 50’s. The weather feels comfortable, even slightly
chilly in the morning hours.

Wind is significant and northwesterly with an average speed of 15 mph
and frequent gusts above 30 mph. The highest gust seen so far today
was around 44 mph; seen a little after 9 A.M.

Most of the Boston Area remains under extreme drought conditions
according to the National Drought Monitor. Total rain deficit on the
year is 11.29 inches below normal. The trees and plants up here are
showing definite signs of distress, with the trees releasing leaves
early and flowers withering. There is a Fire Weather Advisory for the
area at this time as conditions are dry and windy.

The high so far today is 81F, which is a degree above the normal
maximum of 80F. The low since midnight is 61F, which is 2 degrees
below the normal minimum of 63F.
