WARM AND HUMID DAY FOLLOWING A TOUCH OF RAIN EARLY THIS MORNING….

Many communities were welcomed with a bit of rainfall this morning,
especially areas south of Boston and Worcester. Some areas across
Rhode Island and SE Massachusetts got upward to a quarter inch of
rain, however here on the hill only 0.05″ was measured. Either way,
it was nice to get at least a little something in what has been a
very dry spring and summer thus far.

Morning clouds have given way to mainly sunny skies. As a result
temperatures have responded handsomely with reading reaching the
low to mid 80s this afternoon. Humidity levels are back up today
compared to the last couple of days with dew points generally in
the 60s today.

The wind today has been on the increase since early this morning.
The average speed so far is averaging around 10mph. A gust to 24mph
occurred early this afternoon.

Visibility started the day limited at under 40 miles, however it
has increased nicely as the day has progressed, up to around 60
miles early this afternoon.

The high so far today is 85F, which is 3 degrees above the
normal maximum of 82F. The low since midnight is 67F, which
is 3 degrees above the normal minimum of 64F.

The yearly rain deficit has now reached 9.39″ below normal!
Most of the area is under a severe drought.

With only 0.80″ of rain for the month of July, the month ended
up 4th on the lowest July Precipitation list.

BHO Lowest July Precipitation, inches (1885-2022):

1. 0.13 in 1953
2. 0.33 in 1957
3. 0.72 in 1968
4. 0.80 in 2022
5. 0.85 in 1917
6. 0.87 in 1937
7. 0.92 in 1965
8. 1.08 in 1939
9. 1.11 in 1983
10. 1.13 in 1970
Interestingly, the average maximum of 86.6F for the month was only
2nd highest on record and the average minimum of 65.7F was only
4th warmest.

However the 24-hour adjusted mean temperature of 75.3F was not
only the warmest July on record, but warmest month on record.

BHO Warmest July 24-Hour Adjusted Mean Temperature, deg F (1885-2022):

1. 75.3 in 2022
2. 75.1 in 2010
3. 74.9 in 1952
