COLD FRONT PUSHES THROUGH THIS MORNING WITH WIND AND RAIN….

The warm and humid south-southwest flow overnight and early this
morning has been replaced with a cooler and brisk northwest flow
following the cold frontal passage this morning. Showers began
just after 4:30am this morning and persisted off and on into
very early this afternoon. We even had a thunderstorm around 9am
after the front went through. Rainfall was briefly heavy and we
received 0.80″ between 7am and 1pm.

Temperatures started the day in the upper 60s, which was the
high for the day. Readings have since dropped into the mid 50s
by early this afternoon. Dew point values that were also in
the upper 60s early this morning have dropped markedly to the
mid 50s by early this afternoon. The summer-like air mass is
finally gone!

Winds have been busy today, as mentioned, first out of the south-
southwest, then shifting to the northwest. The average speed for
the day so far is around 15mph. Gusts have frequently been
exceeding 20mph today, but the peak was around 12:45am this
morning with a value of 34mph.

Visibility was reduced to 15 miles or less this morning due to
thin fog and rain showers, but has improved significantly early
this afternoon with a view of around 70-80 miles.

The maximum temperature so far today is 68F degrees, which is
4 degrees above the normal high of 64F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 54F degrees, which is 7 degrees above the
normal low of 47F.
