ANOTHER DAY OF SUNSHINE AND UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES…

Sunshine has continued to rule today, with clear skies aside
from a few distant cirrus in the late morning.

As we remain under an upper level ridge, temperatures have
risen well-above average this afternoon, reaching yet again into the
upper 70s and low 80s. This is 10+ degrees above the average high
for this time of year. The dew point has also risen slightly, beginning
in the low 60s this morning and reaching the mid-60s by the afternoon,
resulting in a somewhat sticky feel more resemblant of summer.

The wind has been light today, much to the delight of the bees flying
around the top of the observatory tower. The average speed so far is only
around 7mph, with a measly peak gust of only 14mph just after 4:30am.
The prevailing direction thus far is east-northeast.

Despite the clear skies, visibility has been stubbornly decreasing as
the day has gone on thanks to increasing haziness. The day began with a
visibility of 40 miles, but by early afternoon that had dropped down to
only 25 miles.

The maximum temperature so far today has been 81F, which is
15 degrees above the normal high of 66F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 64F, which is 15 degrees above the normal low
of 49F.
