BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2019
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

A FOGGY START WITH SOME AFTERNOON CLEARING,
THEN MORE FOG….

This morning, the observatory experienced a fog that brought
visibility down to a 1/16th mile. However, some clearing this
morning exposed partly cloudy skies, and a visibility up to
almost 40 miles at 10 A.M. Since then, fog rolled in from the
east, and we are back in the fog around 2 P.M. Wind has remained
light and southerly, with a max gust so far barely over 10 mph.
A whole 1/100th inch fell yesterday between 7 and 10 yesterday,
bringing the monthly rain total to 6.56 inches. That is 2.18
inches above the normal total of 4.38 inches.

Despite abundant cloud cover and light winds, temperatures
held above seasonal averages. The high so far today is
66F, 10 degrees above the daily normal maximum of 56F.
The low since midnight is 51F, 13 degrees above the
normal minimum of 38F.
