71F ON TUESDAY FOUR DEGREES SHORT OF TYING RECORD,
QUIET, WARM STRETCH CONTINUES TODAY
Yesterday, temperatures climbed to a peak of 71F, recorded
after 2:30 PM. The record of 75F, set back in 1990 was never
quite in any danger; however forecast temperatures for the
end of the week may reach record territory once again.
Overnight another inversion set up, with cool air and valley
fog found below the summit at this morning’s 7:00 AM EST
observation. Skies were completely clear with temperatures
falling to a seasonably-warm 49F.
By the 1:00 PM EST observation skies were still completed clear
of clouds in all directions. Hazy conditions were observed with
a prevailing visibility of 50 miles and a sector visibility of
40 miles from the WNW-ENE. A maximum temperature of 65F had
been recorded.
