BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2019
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
MILD TEMPERATURES CONTINUE WITH LIMITED VISIBILITY….
Clouds have ruled the day today as a storm system over the
Mid West heads to our northwest and the associated frontal
system approaches the region.
Ahead of this front, temperatures remain on the mild side
with the high so far reaching 50 degrees for the third day
in a row.
A decent inversion early this morning allowed for low-lying
areas to radiate down into the 30s, meanwhile up here on the
summit the low bottomed out at 42 degrees at around 3:30 A.M.
but had recovered to 46 degrees by 7 A.M. Calm conditions at
the base of the hill was in stark contrast to the summit where
a 10kt easterly wind was blowing.
Thanks to the inversion, visibility has been on the poorer
side today as the air has remained stagnant in the lower
atmosphere. Visibility has been no higher than 30 miles today,
currently only around 15 miles towards Boston to the north, but
up to 30 miles off to the south. Prevailing visibility is
around 20 miles.
The high so far is 50F, which is 6 degrees above the daily
normal maximum of 46F. The low since midnight is 42F, which is
12 degrees above the normal minimum of 30F.
