ABUNDANT SUNSHINE ONCE AGAIN TODAY AND MUCH WARMER WITH LIGHT WIND….
Skies have once again been clear all day with only some high thin
cirrus clouds being visible well off to the south. A bit of left-
over smoke is visible aloft as well, but not nearly as bad as it
was yesterday.
Temperatures have warmed considerably from morning lows in the
mid 40s. Readings have reached the upper 70s and low 80s early
this afternoon. Humidity levels remain low however with the dew-
point hanging out in the mid 40s.
The wind has been rather light today with an average speed of only
around 7mph. The highest gust so far today is a meager 16mph! This
is very similar to yesterday.
Visibility has been gradually improving through the day, starting
off at only around 20 miles in thin fog early this morning, but
improving to 40 miles by early this afternoon.
It should be noted that the extended period of dry weather has
been quite notable. For the month of May to date, we’ve only seen
10 days with measurable rainfall. Of those 10, only 2 had more
than a tenth of an inch, one of which being the big rain event
on the 20th. 81% of the total rainfall for the month fell in that
one storm, with more than half of that falling in a 2 hour period!
The maximum temperature so far today is 79F, which is 8F degrees
above the normal high of 71F. The minimum temperature so far since
midnight is 45F, which is 8 degrees below the normal low of 53F.
