TRANQUIL WEATHER TODAY FOLLOWING YESTERDAY’S SNOW EVENT…

Yesterday’s event was purely a snow event here on the summit,
however as one trekked down the hill, snow became rain about
halfway down in the afternoon. Just amazing how much difference
a little elevation can make. At any rate, total snowfall for the
event was 3.3″ with a total liquid amount of 0.40″.

Today has been tranquil with plenty of sunshine to start the day,
but high clouds are increasing and thickening as we move through
the afternoon hours. Temperatures have warmed nicely into the low
40s.

The wind has been quite light which is adding to the comfortable
feel of the day. The average speed for the day so far is only
around 9mph. The peak gust so far today is only around 20mph.

Visibility has been excellent today with views of 70-80 miles
being observed.

The high so far today is 42F, which is 2 degrees above the normal
maximum of 40F. The low since midnight is 27F degrees, which is
4 degrees above the normal minimum of 23F.

As we start to compile stats for meteorological winter (Dec-Feb),
we are able to share at this moment that winter 2022-23 was the
4th warmest on record. Here is a list of the rankings provided
by our Chief Scientist Mike Iacono.

BHO Warmest Winter (Dec-Feb) Approximated 24-Hour Mean Temperature,
deg F (1885-2023):

1) 34.9 in 2015-2016
