FILTERED SUNSHINE THROUGH THIN CIRRUS CLOUDS AND SMOKE….
An upper level ridge is building into the region with much warmer
and more humid air advecting into the area with it. Today has
featured very filtered sunshine as both some thin cirrus clouds
and a smoke layer from the wildfires in central Canada are passing
over the region.
Temperatures have warmed quite a bit today, reaching the mid 80s
by early this afternoon. The dew point is also on the rise,
increasing from the upper 40s early this morning to the mid 50s by
early this afternoon.
The wind was fairly steady through the morning at around 12mph, but
has been increasing a bit early this afternoon with the last hour
averaging around 12mph. It has been mainly out of the west-southwest
to southwest today, helping to advect that warmer, more humid air
into the area. The peak gust occurred around 11:45am this morning
with a value of 26mph.
Visibility has been limited today due to haziness. The view has
decreased a bit from 40 miles early this morning to only 30 miles
by early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is 84F degrees, which is 12 degrees
above the normal high of 72F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 58F degrees, which is 4 degrees above the normal low of 54F.
