DAY 3 OF THE HEATWAVE BRINGS MORE RECORD TEMPERATURES TO BLUE
HILL….
Today marked the 3rd day of the heatwave that has encompassed
the region this week. Record breaking warmth was observed today
as well as yesterday.
The low temperature this morning was 73F degrees, if this holds
until midnight tonight, this will set a new record high minimum
for the date, breaking the old record of 71F set in 1945.
We did officially record a new record high for yesterday with 95F
degrees, this beat the old record of 94F degrees set in 1933!
Today’s high so far of 94F ties the record high set in 1945!
In addition to the high heat, oppressive humidity levels have
also been experienced. The dew point, once again today, has
been in the low to mid 70s all day. This allowed the heat index,
or the feels like temperature, to exceed 100F for a time.
The high temperature of 94F today is 15 degrees above the
normal maximum of 79F. The low temperature so far today is
73F, which is 12 degrees above the normal minimum of 61F.
As of June 29th, the month of June is ranking as the warmest on
record with a 24-Hour adjusted mean of 69.6F.
Here is the list of current rankings via our Chief Scientist
Mike Iacono…
