THE 4TH AND FINAL DAY OUR FIRST OFFICIAL HEAT-WAVE OF 2025 BRINGS
WITH IT MORE RECORD TEMPERATURES….
We started the day with clear skies and plenty of sunshine which
led to yet another record warm day here at Blue Hill. The difference
today however is that the upper atmosphere is cooling, thus allowing
for the development of numerous cumulus clouds into this afternoon,
and even a few tropical-like showers have developed this afternoon
off to the south and west after the 1pm observation.
Another difference is that a sea-breeze front, or perhaps even a
back-door cold front pushed through around noon-time shifting the
wind from the northwest to the east allowing for much needed
temperature relief this afternoon.
Before the sea-breeze boundary made it through however, the
temperatures reached 93F degrees, which tied the record high for
the day with 1943, 1980, and 2005. It was still 90F at the 1pm
observation, but it quickly dropped thereafter into the mid 80s.
The dew point was holding in the low to mid 70s into early this
afternoon, but these values have finally started to drop off a
bit as well following the 1pm observation. Heat Index values did
for a time this morning exceed 100F however.
As mentioned, the wind shifted from northwest to east right around
noon-time. The average speed for the day so far has been around
9mph. The peak gust so far for the day is 20mph, which occurred
just before 8:15am this morning.
The visibility continues to be somewhat limited by haze. The view
has been between 30-40 miles all day.
The maximum temperature for today is 93F degrees, which is 14
degrees above the normal high of 79F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 76F degrees, which is 15 degrees above the normal low
of 61F.
