HAZY SUNSHINE, HOT, AND HUMID AGAIN AS WE’VE TIED THE RECORD
HIGH FOR THE DAY SO FAR….

Today is now the second day to reach 90F and represents 2/3rds
of the required days to officially be considered a heatwave.
Skies are much the same as yesterday with a veil of high thin
cirrus clouds creating a milky looking sky. Hazy conditions
in general are in place thanks to the high dew point air.

The record high for today is 92F set in 1923, and so far we
have tied the record as we’ve maxed out at 92F to this point.
The record for tomorrow is 94F set in 1953, and we have a good
shot at tying or exceeding this record also. Stay tuned!

Humidity levels are once again getting into the oppressive
category following a period of lower dew points early this
morning. Readings were in the low to mid 60s early this morning,
but quickly rose into the low to mid 70s by late in the morning
and early this afternoon. This is definitely another day to
take it easy if you must be outdoors. The better bet is to
remain indoors with air conditioning. In either case, staying
hydrated is very important on days like this.

The wind has been fairly steady since the overnight hours,
averaging at around 12mph for the day so far. The average wind
direction has been southwest to this point. The peak gust so
far is 23mph, which occurred just before 6:30am this morning.

Visibility has been limited most of the day due to haziness. The
view has been between 20-30 miles all day.

The maximum temperature so far today is 92F degrees, which is
15 degrees above the normal high of 77F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 66F, which is 7 degrees above the normal
low of 59F.

With this June heatwave taking shape, here is the ranking for
longest June Heatwaves here at Blue Hill, as compiled by our
Chief Scientist Mike Iacono.
