MUCH NEEDED RAINFALL OVERNIGHT, MUCH COOLER, BUT DAMP WEATHER
TODAY….
Showers and thunderstorms overnight into early this morning
brought a good soaking of rain to the area, helping to alleviate
the dryness a bit for the short term. 1.09″ of rain was recorded
for the period with over 0.50″ falling in the hour between
midnight and 1am.
Showers waned by mid morning, but skies have remained overcast
for the day. The fog has slowly lifted allowing for a bit of
visibility, but it’s still quite limited.
The temperature has “only” reached the low 70s today, which is in
stark contrast to the mid 90s of yesterday. While the air is full
of moisture making it feel humid, the much cooler temperatures
does feel quite nice today.
The wind has been on the light side today, mainly out of an
easterly direction. The average speed for the day so far is only
around 6mph. The peak gust for the day occurred just after
midnight during a thunderstorm with a value of 26mph.
Visibility was only around 1/16th to 1/8th of a mile early this
morning, but has gradually improved to around 10 miles by early
this afternoon as the low cloud base has lifted off the summit.
The maximum temperature so far today is 72F degrees, which is
10 degrees below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 65F degrees, which is 1 degree above the normal
low of 64F.
