BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

WEDNESDAY, JULY 31, 2024
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0436E
SUNSET:  1904E

MAINLY CLOUDY, WARM, AND VERY HUMID WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS….

Clouds have been dominating for the most part, but peeks of sun
have occurred here and there as well. Scattered showers have
developed and have been moving through the area. One such shower
passed over the Hill just after the 10am observation leaving
0.02″ of water in the rain gauge. Additional showers and even
a thunderstorm are expected through the balance of the afternoon.

Temperatures have warmed into the low-mid 80s by early this
afternoon with humidity holding near oppressive levels. The dew
point has been in the low to mid 70s all day. So there is plenty
of available moisture for some showers and thunderstorms to
produce locally heavy rainfall.

The wind has been on the busy side again today with the south-
southwest flow averaging at around 15mph for the day so far.
Frequent gusts of 25-35mph have been occurring most of the day.
The peak gust for today so far is 45mph which occurred during the
1pm observation.

Visibility has been limited all day to mainly around 20-30 miles,
except occasionally lower due to passing rain showers.

The maximum temperature so far today is 83F, which is 1 degree
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 71F, which is 9 degrees above the normal low of 62F.
