A COLD DREARY DAY WITH FREEZING PRECIPITATION MAKING THINGS ICY….
Our latest weather system arrived last night, with light freezing
rain and sleet occurring at the onset. Temperatures warmed enough
overnight to change it over to mainly drizzle and some light rain
through early this morning. However, the wind shifted to more of
a northerly direction prior to 7am causing temperatures to slip
back below freezing. As such, freezing drizzle and freezing rain
have been the result into early this afternoon. Some snow started
mixing in around noon time as well as some colder air briefly
works in aloft.
Temperatures briefly made it to the mid 30s between 3-6am this
morning before falling back below freezing by the 7am observation.
Readings have been holding around 30F into early this afternoon.
The wind has again been on the light side today, averaging at
around 10mph for the day so far. The peak gust for the day so far
is 21mph, which occurred during the time we were on the “warmer”
side of the coastal front, just after 4:15am this morning.
Visibility has been extremely limited all day since we’ve been
in the clouds. The view has been holding at only around 1/16th
of a mile.
The maximum temperature so far today is 36F degrees, which is
1 degree above the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 30F degrees, which is 11 degrees above the
normal low of 19F.
