LIGHT SNOW OVERNIGHT, TURNS TO LIGHT RAIN AND DRIZZLE THIS
MORNING….
Periods of light snow overnight deposited 1.2″ of snow on
the summit by early this morning. This melted down to 0.14″
of liquid, indicating a very wet snow despite temperatures
generally below freezing during the time of snowfall.
It warmed enough aloft however for the snow to change to
light rain and drizzle early this morning, but not before
a very brief period of light freezing drizzle. Most of the
precipitation that has fallen since around 4am has been very
light, with only an additional 0.01″ of precipitation
measured between 4am-1pm.
Temperatures have been very slowly rising, from a low of 29F
at around 4am to the mid 30s by early this afternoon.
The wind has been quite light today, veering from the north
in the wee hours of the morning to the south by mid morning
and into early this afternoon. The average speed for the day
so far is only around 6mph. The peak gust been a meager 16mph
occurring just after 1pm.
Visibility has been quite limited as we’ve been in the clouds
all day. The view has only ranged between 1/16 to 1/8 of a
mile.
The maximum temperature so far today is 34F degrees, this is
equal to the normal high of 34F. The minimum temperature so
far since midnight is 29F degrees, this is 12 degrees above
the normal low of 17F.
