WINDY AND UNSEASONABLY MILD WITH RAIN SHOWERS…

Skies have been cloudy all day with rain showers moving through
the region. While the rain has been falling for several hours
going back to last evening, for the most part it’s been on the
light side. 0.29″ was measured through 7am this morning, with
only an additional 0.06″ falling through 1pm.

Temperatures have remained on the mild side following yesterday’s
record warmth. Readings today have been in the low 50s most of
the day. The lowest temperature for the day so far occurred back
at midnight with a reading of 49F. If this low holds for the
calendar day, it will establish a new record high minimum for the
date, beating out 47F set in 1910! At about 2:40pm yesterday, the
mercury reached 62F (61.9) degrees which set a new record high for
February 27. This beat the old record of 61F set in 1976.

The wind has been quite busy today out of the south-southwest.
The average speed for the day so far has been around 27mph. The
peak gust thus far is around 55mph, which occurred just before
7am this morning. We have had several gusts today in the 50-55mph
range, mainly during the morning.

Visibility has been limited today as one would expect with the
rain and fog. Generally 2-4 miles all morning, but dipped to
around a 1/4 mile early this afternoon as the ceiling lowered
onto the summit.

The maximum temperature so far today is 53F degrees, which is 13
degrees above the normal high of 40F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 49F degrees, which is 27 degrees above the normal low
of 22F.
