BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2022
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
SUNRISE: 0658E
SUNSET:  1658E

MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH LIMITED VISIBILITY FOR MOST OF THE DAY….

Today consisted of mostly light southerly winds and mild temperatures.
Visibility was limited to 20 miles at most due to a layer of thin fog.
Snow depth still exceeds 10 inches by the 1 P.M. observation, and
Houghton’s and Ponkapoag are still completely covered with ice.
Despite the sun not breaking through the clouds today, a good
amount of ambient light is spread through the clouds and fog.

After the record-breaking snow last weekend, the monthly snow
total for January is 45.4 inches. That is 26.8 inches more than
the normal monthly snowfall for January. With snow totals being
less than spectacular earlier on this winter, last month’s amount
surely made up the 1 foot deficit. The seasonal total is 48.3 inches,
13.9 inches above the normal amount for this winter so far.

The high so far today is 41F, this is 6 degrees above the normal
high of 35F. The low since midnight is 31F, which is 13 degrees
below the normal minimum of 18F.
