CONTINUED MILD WITH STEADY LIGHT RAIN SINCE LAST EVENING….
It’s been quite awhile since we’ve seen a long duration
soaking rain, but that’s what we’re seeing today. Light
rain started late yesterday afternoon becoming steady
during the evening hours. 0.52″ was measured through 7am
this morning with an additional 0.12″ through 1pm this
afternoon. With a monthly and annual deficit ongoing in
terms of precipitation here at Blue Hill, this rain event
is really nice to see.
As to be expected, cloud cover has dominated the sky
today. A southerly wind however is bringing mild and
humid air into the area with both the temperature and
dew point reaching the mid 50s this afternoon. The low
so far today is 47F. If this holds through midnight
tonight, this will tie the record high minimum for the
date set in 1932.
The wind has been on the breezy side out of a south-
southeasterly direction. The average speed so far for
today is around 19mph. The peak gust thus far has been
39mph occurring between 6-7am. Gusts have been frequently
in the 30-35mph range all day.
Visibility has been limited all day due to rain and fog.
We’ve only been able to see generally under 2 miles all day.
The high so far today is 55F, which is 12 degrees above
the normal maximum of 43F. The low since midnight is 47F,
which is 20 degrees above the normal low of 27F.
