WINDY AND COLD WITH PLENTY OF SUNSHINE….

A cold front pressed southward overnight bringing with it
gusty winds and snow squalls between midnight and 3am.
Snow amounted to 0.1″ here on the summit melting down to
only a trace of liquid. Wind gusts in excess of 40mph
accompanied the squalls as the front moved through. A
marked drop in temperature from 27F at 2am to 18F by 7am
was noted along with the dew point dropping into the
single digits early this morning. All told it certainly
felt like mid January!

Clear skies and abundant sunshine have been the theme
today, despite this, temperatures have only recovered
to the mid 30s. With a biting northwest to north-northwest
wind, wind chills are solidly in the upper teens to low
20s.

We had our coldest temperature of the season so far this
morning with a low of 18F!

The dew point has been gradually rising from the single
digits early this morning to 20 early this afternoon.

The wind as mentioned has been on the busy side with an
average speed for the day thus far around 18mph. Gusts
have been frequently getting to between 35-40mph most of
the day.

Visibility is excellent today under almost completely
clear skies. Views of 80 miles early this morning have
increased to a perfect 90 miles early this afternoon.

The high so far today is 34F, which is 7 degrees below
the normal maximum of 41F. The low since midnight is 18F,
which is 7 degrees below the normal minimum of 25F.
