WARMER AND DRIER WITH SUNNY SKIES

Yesterday had below normal temperatures, with a minimum of 60F
occurring around 6:00 A.M. EST and a maximum of 74F around
2:00 P.M. The average temperature for the day was about 5F below
normal. The cumulative departure for the month of August is -4F,
or -0.7 degrees per day. Today’s maximum temperature has already
gotten up to 82F, which is 2F above the normal maximum temperature
of 80F. Not only has it been warmer, but it has been drier as well
with dew points in the mid to upper 50s. At the 1:00 P.M. observation,
the relative humidity was at 41%. There have been very few clouds,
so the skies have been clear and sunny all day. Visibility started
out good in the morning at 70 miles, but it progressively worsened
down to 40 miles at 1:00 P.M. despite the lower humidity.
