A SOAKING RAIN OVERNIGHT, REMAINING CLOUDY INTO EARLY THIS
AFTERNOON WITH COOL TEMPERATURES CONTINUING….

A steady soaking rainfall occurred overnight into early this
morning. 0.70″ of rain was measured through 7am this morning.
The rain tapered off by mid morning with mainly cloudy skies
persisting into early this afternoon.

Temperatures are once again on the cool side thanks to the
clouds and onshore wind. Readings started the day in the upper
50s, and have “warmed” into the mid 60s by the 1pm observation.
This air is in stark contrast to the hot and humid air mass
we’ve been dealing with since essentially early July. This is
definitely a nice respite in what’s normally the dog days of
summer.

Winds have been fairly steady today, mainly out of a east-
northeast to northeasterly direction. The average speed for
the day so far is around 9mph. The peak gust so far is 23mph
which occurred just before 3am this morning.

Visibility has improved since early this morning. The view was
under 1/4 mile for a time prior to sunrise, but has been
gradually improving through the day, reaching around 50 miles
by early this afternoon.

The maximum temperature so far today is 66F, which is 15 degrees
below the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 57F, which is 7 degrees below the normal low of 64F.
