ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21, 2013
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

TEMPERATURE REACHES MID 80S;
WARMEST DAY SINCE ONE MONTH AGO, 93F ON JULY 20
AND YESTERDAY WAS ONLY 2ND WARMER THAN NORMAL DAY SINCE JULY 24

Temperatures finally warmed up to 85F yesterday and was 6 degrees
above the normal maximum for the date of 79F.  This was the
largest departure in the maximum temperature since +12 degrees
on July 20 when the high reading reached 93 degrees at the
end of our six day heat wave.

From July 25 – August 19 (26 days), only 2 days had above normal
temperatures, and the average daily temperature during this time period
was 2.7F below normal.

Temperatures today continue to be in the middle 80’s this afternoon, which
would mark the first time this month that two consecutive days have been
above normal. Throughout the day the humidity has increased, with dew points
becoming slightly uncomfortable in the middle 60’s.
Winds continue to be on the light side, as they have been over the past
several days.  The wind direction has slowly shifted from a NW direction
early this morning to a SW direction this afternoon. The sky cover has been
unusually clear, though hazy conditions has kept the visibility to only 15-
20 miles.
