MORNING LOW CLOUDS AND FOG GIVE WAY TO SUNSHINE; CONTINUED HUMID
WITH WELL ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR EARLY OCTOBER….
We started the day in the clouds with dense fog, but they burned
off rather quickly leaving us with ample sunshine. However clouds
are starting to increase this afternoon ahead of a cold front
that will pass through the region tomorrow. For now however, it
continues humid with well above normal temperatures, but no
records for today.
Temperatures have warmed quickly today from the low 60s to the
upper 70s by early this afternoon. This is still around 15
degrees above normal highs for the date. With dew point readings
into the low to mid 60s, it definitely feels quite summer-like
out there once again today.
Winds have been fairly steady and busy today. A southwest flow
has been averaging at around 13mph. Gusts have frequently been
exceeding 20mph today, with a peak gust so far of 30mph, which
occurred just before 1pm.
Visibility was reduced early this morning due to fog, down to
as low as 1/8th of a mile for a time. The view improved quickly
once the fog burned off, but due to haziness and humid air mass,
it only improved to around 30-40 miles for the balance of the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 79F degrees, which is
15 degrees above the normal high of 64F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 59F degrees, which is 12 degrees above the
normal low of 47F.
