THE RUT CONTINUES, ONCE AGAIN OVERCAST AND COOL WITH A BRISK WIND….

I know, I’m starting to sound like a broken record as we endure
the third consecutive day of clouds, wind, and chilly temperatures.
We remain stuck between high pressure to the north and low pressure
to the south as they duke it out for dominance. It would seem the
high is retreating a bit as pressure overall is lower today than
yesterday (and falling). Also the air mass has become more moist
with the dew point reaching 50 degrees early this afternoon. Also
the development of drizzle has spread across the area early this
afternoon too.

Either way, there is still enough of a gradient to keep the wind
busy out of the east-northeast to northeast. The average wind speed
so far today has been around 17mph. A peak gust of 39mph was
measured late this morning, however frequent gusts of 30-35mph
have been observed all day.

Temperatures have been holding in the low/mid 50s once again.
The dew point has been slowly creeping up from the mid 40s to
around 50 ahead of some expected rainfall tonight and tomorrow.

Visibility decreased from 50 miles early this morning to only
around 4 miles early this afternoon in drizzle and fog.

The high so far today is 56F, which is 10 degrees below the
normal maximum of 66F. The low since midnight is 49F, which is
equal to the normal minimum of 49F.
