ABUNDANT SUNSHINE WITH NEAR RECORD WARM TEMPERATURES AT BLUE HILL…
Plenty of sunshine has been the theme today with clear skies
featuring only a few high thin cirrus clouds off to the distant
north. An upper level ridge has slid into the eastern U.S. and is
parked over the region for the next few days, thus allowing for
quite a bit of warming of the air mass this week.
Temperatures have warmed into the upper 70s and low 80s this
afternoon, which is 10-15 degrees above the expected high temperature
for this date! The record high for today’s date is 82F set in 1922.
So far we’ve reached 80F, but I think we’ll fall just short of
reaching today’s record, but stay tuned. The dew point has also been
on the increase with values rising from the upper 40s early this
morning to the low 60s early this afternoon.
The wind has been light out of the west-southwest for the most part.
The average speed for the day so far is around 9mph with a peak gust
of around 18mph occurring just before 6am.
Visibility is decent, but somewhat limited by haziness. The view
has been stuck around 40 miles all day.
The maximum temperature so far today has been 80F, which is
14 degrees above the normal high of 66F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 54F, which is 5 degrees above the normal low
of 49F.
