A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS ONCE AGAIN TODAY WITH SEASONABLY MILD
TEMPERATURES…
After a chilly start this morning, we have warmed nicely into
the upper 50s to low 60s early this afternoon. Varying amounts
of, mainly mid and high clouds have been streaming across the
area. All in all, it’s been quite a nice fall day here on the
summit of Blue Hill.
Temperatures as mentioned have reached the lower 60s, which is
slightly above the expected readings for this time of year. The
dew point remains in the “Goldie Locks” range with readings in
the 40s. It’s not too humid nor too dry.
The wind has been on the light side today with an average speed
of only around 7mph. The peak gust so far today is around 16mph,
which occurred just before the 1pm observation.
Visibility has been excellent again today with a view of 70-80
miles all day!
The maximum temperature so far today has been 61F, which is 3
degrees above the normal high of 58F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 41F, which is equal to the normal low of 41F.
As we continue to remain above normal in the minimum temperature
category, we are actively watching for when we will have our first
low temperature below 40F. It did not occur this morning, as such
2023 is going to end up ranking first for the latest temperature
below 40. The next possible chance for us to achieve this won’t
be until perhaps the middle to end of next week, at which point
we’ll be pushing into early November. Stay tuned!
Here are the current rankings as compiled by our Chief Scientist,
Mike Iacono.
