COLDEST DAY OF THE SEASON THUS FAR TODAY DESPITE PLENTY OF SUNSHINE….
Some morning clouds have given way to mainly clear skies early this
afternoon, however the abundance of sunshine isn’t helping the
temperature rise very much as the coldest air mass of this early
season sits over the region. We started the day down in the mid-upper
20s, and have only recovered to the upper 30s as of early this
afternoon.
The dew point is quite low, dropping from the upper teens this
morning to the low-mid teens early this afternoon. This is quite
indicative of the cold and dry air mass in place.
There has been a bit of a breeze today to go along with the cold
temperatures, helping to hold wind chill values in the upper 20s
to low 30s. Wind speeds have been averaging around 12mph today with a
peak gust to 31mph thus far.
Visibility is of course excellent today with the super dry air. We’re
able to easily see 80 miles. Mount Monadnock, which is 67 miles NW of
Blue Hill, is coming in nice and clear today!
The high so far today is 37F, 10 degrees below the normal max of 47F.
The low since midnight is 27F, 5 degrees below the normal low of 32F.
