A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS WITH GUSTY WINDS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES….
Strong cold air advection is taking place today with a very gusty
north-northwesterly flow and steady temperatures this morning
starting to fall a bit this afternoon, despite a decent amount of
sunshine mixed with some stratocumulus clouds.
The highest temperature of the day was actually at midnight when it
was 54F degrees. It fell into the mid 40s prior to sunrise, then only
rose to the low 50s during the mid morning period before starting to
drop back into the mid to upper 40s early this afternoon. The dew
point has also been gradually declining, dropping from the low 40s
early this morning to the upper 20s just after the 1pm observation.
Winds are quite busy today with the north-northwest flow averaging
at around 16mph. While it was breezy overnight into early this
morning, the wind really ramped up after 8am with frequent gusts
over 30mph, and several over 40mph. The peak gust for the day to
this point is 48mph, which occurred at 12:42pm this afternoon.
Visibility has been generally around 70 miles with a period during
the mid morning hours where it was as high as 80 miles.
The maximum temperature for today since midnight is 54 degrees, this
is 3 degrees above the normal high of 51F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 46F degrees, which is 11 degrees above the normal
low of 35F degrees.
