CLOUDS INCREASE WITH MILDER TEMPERATURES AND A BRISK WIND….
We started the day with plenty of sunshine being filtered through
some thin broken cirrus clouds. However by mid morning, a deck of
mid level altocumulus clouds rolled in significantly filtering or
even completely blocking the sun at times.
Regardless of the cloud cover, milder temperatures are being
advected into the region by increasing southwest winds. Readings
started the day in the mid to upper 20s, but have recovered nicely
into the mid to upper 40s by early this afternoon. The dew point is
also significantly higher than it was the past couple of days with
values getting into the mid 20s, indicating that the arctic air mass
has moved out of the area.
As mentioned, winds have been increasing during the morning becoming
rather gusty by the late morning and early afternoon hours. The
average speed for the day so far is around 14mph, however the average
is closer to 17-20mph over the past couple of hours. Gusts have been
reaching the 30-35mph range frequently as we moved into the early
afternoon hours, with a peak gust so far of 38mph which occurred
at 11:42am.
Visibility has been somewhat limited today thanks to general
haziness. The view has been around 30-35 miles all day.
The maximum temperature for today is 47F degrees, which is 6 degrees
above the normal high of 41F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 23 degrees, which is equal to the normal low of 23F.
