DRIER AND MILDER TODAY FOLLOWING YESTERDAY’S RAINFALL….
The total rainfall from yesterday’s weather system was 0.79″. This
brings the monthly total over 4.50″, which for now is a bit above
normal. But we’re still holding on to a deficit for the year so far
of just over 2.60″.
Things have dried out today with partial sunshine, milder
temperatures, and a brisk southwesterly wind.
Temperatures have reached the low to mid 50s early this afternoon
after starting the day in the mid 30s. These readings are a bit
above normal for today’s date, and with the higher sun angle, it
feels nice out there when the wind drops off a bit. Dew point
values have been dropping off with the atmosphere mixing drier air
from aloft early this afternoon. Values reached 40 for a time this
morning, but have since dropped to the upper 20s.
Winds died down for a time this morning, but have increased again
into early this afternoon thanks to the above mentioned mixing.
The average speed for the day so far is around 10mph. Gusts have
been exceeding the 30mph mark early this afternoon. The peak gust
so far is 33mph, occurring just after 11:30am.
Visibility has been gradually improving since early this morning.
We went from seeing only around 20 miles early this morning to
around 50 miles by early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is 53F degrees, which is 6 degrees
above the normal high of 47F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 33F degrees, which is 3 degrees above the normal low of 30F.
