INCREASING CLOUDS TODAY AND STILL ON THE CHILLY SIDE….

Meteorological spring has sprung, but mother nature still says
winter is in charge for now. An Arctic air mass is exiting
the region, with a return southerly flow occurring today. This
is happening ahead of a clipper system that will pass to the
north of southern New England tonight.

As the system approaches, clouds have been increasing and
lowering through the day. Thanks, in part, to the lack of
sunshine today, temperatures have been only slowly rising
into the low to mid 30s early this afternoon.

The dew point has been rising through the day as well,
indicative of the Arctic air leaving the region. Values were in
the single digits this morning, but has risen to the upper
teens by early this afternoon.

A southerly wind hasn’t been overly strong, but stiff enough to
create a wind chill in the low to mid 20s. Speeds are averaging
around 9-10mph with occasional gusts between 25-30mph.

Visibility has been decreasing since early this morning,
starting the day around 60 miles, lowering to 45-50 miles by
early this afternoon.

The high so far today is 34F, 6 degrees below the normal
maximum of 40F. The low since midnight is 15F, which is 8
degrees below the normal minimum of 23F.
