BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
TUESDAY, JUNE 5, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
ANOTHER BELOW SEASONABLE, OVERCAST,
AND WET DAY ON GREAT BLUE HILL…
With wind and rain coming from the E/ENE yesterday, we
had near record breaking below seasonable temperatures
with the high temperature of 52F. This is 20F degrees
lower than the daily normal at 72F and only 2 degrees
above the record low max of 50F set back in 2012.
Rainfall began yesterday morning and continued throughout
the day and ended around 6:00 P.M. We measured a storm
total of 0.82 inches of rainfall.
Today the humidity was high at the 7:00 A.M. observation at
100%, resulting in foggy conditions with visibility only
reaching a half mile. By the 10:00 A.M. observation the sky
cleared for a short bit, the fog slightly dissipated,
allowing for a hazy 40 miles of visibility. Rain showers
have been intermittent throughout the day, and we measured
0.01 inches of precipitation by the 1:00 P.M. observation.
Thunder and heavier rain began this afternoon around 2:30 P.M.
